ZiiLABS shows off 50-core Jaguar3 tablet

While almost every single tablet manufacturer out there is looking for quad-core processors to use in their upcoming products, Creative owned ZiiLABS showed off their latest platform. The Jaguar3 as its being called uses two 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processors along with 48 StemCell processing units, which are something like GPU cores. That’s not the end of it either. The next variation will include a quad-core Cortex A9 processor bundled with 96 StemCell processors, which should make it a 100-core tablet.

  • 10.1-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution
  • Wi-Fi enabled
  • GPS, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope
  • Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0
  • 12MP rear facing camera, HD front facing camera
  • 3.5mm earphone socket
  • HDMI 1.4a out (1080p60 and 3D support)
  • 16/32/64 GB of internal memory

The design might make its way through the Creative line of products in the future but ZiiLABS has the design open for interested OEMs who might want to manufacture tablets based on this reference design. ZiiLabs claims that the Jaguar3 is the fastest tablet in the market today, and with the kind of the hardware it has, on paper, it should be. The 100-core model powered by the ZMS-40 processor should only get speedier when it's ready.
