According to local authorities, China's Henan province has plans to build the world's largest manufacturing base for smartphones. The target set out is 2012 and the location will be the Foxconn Science Park in Zhengzhou.
Predicted cost of expansion is roughly around 7 billion yuan ($1.1 billion) but it will bring $20 billion in sales revenue in 2012. Foxconn is already the largest Apple contractor; after the expansion that will bring 95 additional production lines, the daily production of iPhones could go as high as 200,000, with the help of 130,000 people joining the other 1.2 million workers employed by the company.
