Samsung Galaxy Note gets unboxed in the Tech2 Labs

The Galaxy Note, recently announced from Samsung made quite an impression on audiences across India. The fact that it resembles a tablet and also has all the capabilities of a standard Android powered smartphone could make it quite appealing to some. The product hit our test labs just today, so here’s a quick look at what’s included in the package.

The product that made it in to our labs, courtesy our tech-happy Managing Editor, was straight off the shelf. What we’re thankful for are companies that don’t splurge on wasteful packaging. Like the SII, the Galaxy Note is also simply and neatly packaged into a lightweight easy-to-access box. Do keep in mind that the leatherette case is not packaged with the device, but is available separately. It is, however free as your sealed package should have a sticker reminding you to ask for the case. The product sits right on top with a large specifications riddled sticker applied to its large 5.3-inch (Super AMOLED Capacitive) touchscreen. At the get go, the handset still seems quite lightweight, of course the battery was not inserted, yet.Beneath the first layer is a Samsung warranty, which is local only for one year (6 months on the battery). The Quick Start guide is next and neatly arranged below that are the various other assets. Here’s the contents list –

  • A 2500mAh Samsung battery
  • a white (not sure why considering the device is black and gray) handsfree kit with in-ear style earphones and a few alternate-sized earpieces
  • A standard micro USB to USB 2.0 cable
  • Charging adapter with a USB plug
  • Samsung’s S Pen for the Note is, as we showcased in the Hands on Preview, neatly tucked away into the bottom rear portion of the handset.

In general, the handset, or Mini-Tab as we'd like to call these devices here at Tech2, is well-designed and looks very comfortable to use. The Galaxy Note Mini-tab is priced at Rs.34,990, but can be found for bit less, depending on your loaction and dealer. Here's also a quick look at the Note's specifications -

  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support and Google Maps
