Apple grills Amazon over Fire's 'false advertising'

When Amazon named their app store for Android as App Store, Apple openly expressed its displeasure over its usage. Apple had then claimed that they were the rightful owners of the term 'App Store' and Amazon using it without their consent meant infringment. However, Amazon cleared this hurdle by stating that App Store was a very generic term and hence Apple's claims did not hold any ground.

Now, just days after the launch of Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet, old wounds seem to have opened up for Apple again, considering that it has jumped on the lawsuit bandwagon, confirms CNET. This time Apple claims that Amazon has resorted to false advertising with respect to its Kindle Fire.
According to a complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for Northern California, ever since the Android-based Kindle Fire tablet has been featuring in advertisements, Amazon has been altering the title "Amazon Appstore for Android" to downplay the use of the words "for Android".
