Networking solution provider Cisco has joined the tablet bandwagon by launching Cius in India and is targeting the enterprises for the product.
Cius is not just another tablet. It has more to do with providing applications helping productivity in a secure environment,” Cisco India and SAARC National Sales Manager (Unified Communications) Minhaj Zia told reporters on a teleconference.
While there are new tabs being launched almost each day, we found that CIOs have expressed concerns about the security of corporate data on such devices when they are outside of the company. Cius, along with our Cisco AppHQ (app store) is designed to help companies work on the go, without worrying about the security aspect
Cisco serves more than 700,000 people in India providing them with their IP Telephony Services. Reportedly, Cisco is aiming at those users of the service and other clients with Cius tablet. We are aware that lots of tablets of different sizes and shapes come out each month. Mr Zia stated that these tablets were insecure according to CIOs as there have been a lot of questions whether these tablets offer security to the confidential corporate data stored in them while they are being used outside the companies of their owners.
Cisco Cius would be out for sale in India soon with a price in India tag expected to be of Rs 35,000/-. There will be a tablet dock as well, which included with the tablet would cost about Rs 50,000/- in India.
